ABOUT THE BEAT TOM & BILL CHARITY GOLF OUTING, DINNER AND RAFFLE
Since 2002, the Beat Tom & Bill Charity Golf Outing has raised over $210,000 in monetary donations for several cancer-related charities and local families. In 2010, with your help, we all set another record and raised over $75,000. In the 9 years of this event we’ve accomplished a lot:
- Raised over $67,000 for The Cancer Care Foundation, a non-profit organization that helped Bill's mother and father-in-law, George and Lana Nellis as they suffered through their cancer battles.
- Raised over $100,000 to help local families that were suffering financially through their cancer bouts.
- The Neilson family whose 4 yr. old son Cody is still going through his cancer fight.
- The Charalambous family who suffered the loss of their mother Sharon and declared bankruptcy because of the financial stress of the disease
- The Burde family who lost their 19 year old daughter and then were told of Karen’s breast cancer.
- The DiSilvestro family and their daughter Gianna who ultimately lost her battle with the disease.
- Sally Gorney – Avila - a week after her passing, we honored Sally Gorney-Avila and her courageous fight at our 2009 outing.
- 5-yr old Jake Spachner’s family was also helped at the 2009 outing. We are pleased to report that Jake is in remission and doing very well.
- Created Sally’s Studio – an Art Therapy program for Cancer sufferers at Lutheran General – and raised over $30,000 for this fantastic program.
- Raised almost $15,000 to support Avon Breast Cancer and American Cancer Society
